Prabhat Khabar consolidates young reader base

In a move to consolidate its young readership base, Prabhat Khabar celebrated its student felicitation programme, ‘Pratibha Samman’, in Ranchi on July 22, 2012. This is the tenth year of the programme, which recognises talent of students in around 24 districts of Jharkhand and 38 districts in Bihar. The programme covered more than 30,000 students.

Sharing the programme’s objective with exchange4media, KK Goenka, Managing Director, Prabhat Khabar, said, “The aim is to reach the audiences and to consolidate our presence. We are doing very well in Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal, but there are competitors in the market too. We are always boosting upcoming talent because children are the future of our country. We have been appreciating children for their hard work for the last two decades.”

In order to create awareness among the readers about this event, Prabhat Khabar took the 360 degree route. The newspaper came up with a lot of ads that were done in-house, besides ad spots in the FM channel Radio Dhoom, online promotions and put up hoardings around Ranchi.

Speaking on the leverage that Prabhat Khabar is getting out of this initiative, Goenka said, “The number of young readers are growing and we are building consumer connect automatically. Events such as these also provide a platform for the newspaper and readers to meet at one place and get to know each other. This has led us to perform better.”

State Bank of India was the presenting sponsor of Pratibha Samman event this year, while Maharishi Nikhilesh Seva Sansthan was the presenting sponsor.

Also present at the event were Praveena Kala, Deputy General Manager, State Bank of India, and Dr Syed Ahmed, Governor of Jharkhand.

Going forward, Prabhat Khabar will take its Pratibha Samman initiative to all major districts of Bihar and Jharkhand and this entire exercise will continue till August 9, 2012.
