Open Magazine owner Sanjiv Goenka wins bid for Pune IPL team

Industrialist Sanjiv Goenka who co-owns the Indian Super League’s Kolkata franchise, Atletico de Kolkata has won the bid for Pune IPL team. Goenka also runs the weekly English magazine ‘Open’ in a joint venture with RP – Sanjiv Goenka Group.  The magazine is the flagship brand of Open Media Network, the media venture of RPG Group.

The other bid was won by mobile brand Intex for Rajkot. Pune and Rajkot will be the two new franchises of IPL. Goenka has got the Pune franchise for Rs 16 crores and Intex has got for Rs 10 crores.

It can be recalled that BCCI had invited a tender for two new teams to replace Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings.

Goenka also owns brand like SaReGaMa, Spencer’s and Music World
