Next Gen Publishing launches men’s magazine FHM in India

Next Gen Publishing Ltd, owned by the Forbes Group, Emap and HDFC, has announced the launch of For Him Magazine (FHM) in India. The magazine is currently present in 43 countries and published in 24 languages. The business model for the Indian market would primarily focus on advertising, supported by subscription and newsstand sales. On the content side, the Indian edition will see a mix of international as well as indigenised content.

Hoshang Billimoria, CEO, Next Gen Publishing, said, “We are happy to bring a men’s magazine like FHM to India. The FHM reader is a man who is intelligent, stylish, techno savvy, socially aware and sporty. Across the world, FHM has defined a generation of men. It opens up a world of glamourous, sexy women, adventure, style, fitness, entertainment, cars and new technology, with an irreverent, intelligent and often hilarious approach.” Billimoria further said, “We are working towards making FHM the largest selling men’s magazine in India. I think due to the continued roaring success of the brand overseas, and with the passion and knowledge of our partners, this accomplishment is just a few months away.”

Farhad Dadyburjor, Editor, FHM, commented, “For the inaugural issue of FHM India, we have supermodel Ujjwala Raut on the cover page. The content for the first issue has exclusives with VJ Mia, Angelina Jolie, Deepika Padukone and Djimon Hounsou. Moreover, famous names like Ash Chandler, Shamita and Mashoom Singha feature as the magazine’s columnists.” Dadyburjor further explained that the content plan for the magazine in general included features on gadgets, food, cars, fashion and fitness.

The launch event for FHM India in Mumbai featured a slick beachwear show, which saw several models walk the ramp in creations by India’s leading designers like Manish Arora, Varun Bahl, Rohit Bal and Manish Malhotra, to name a few.

FHM International has strong bonds with the world’s best photographers like James White and celebrities like Jennifer Lopez and Jessica Alba, and several of Hollywood’s top-earning stars have appeared on the cover page.
