News24 refreshes itself, goes on air in new avatar

Hindi news channel News24 has assumed a refreshing and bold look from May 6, 2011. The channel has changed its logo, colour format, graphic pattern as well as editorial pattern for a few programmes. E24, the Hindi entertainment channel from the group, will also be seen in a new avatar from the first week of May 2011.

RK Arora, CEO, BAG – Broadcasting, who had joined the group in January 2011, said, “When I joined the organisation, I found there was a need of change in the look and feel of the channel. Every channel upgrades its overall look in three to four years for better innovation with new technology. We also thought of giving something new to our viewers and advertisers.”

Meanwhile, to expand its reach, the group is planning to go overseas, partnering with DTH and IPTV operators in countries like the US, the UK and South Africa. Besides this, new programmes are being introduced for News24. The marketing and distribution activities have also been beefed up by the channel.

In a prepared statement, Anurradha Prasad, CMD, BAG Network, said, “The rationale behind News24’s rebranding comes from our constant endeavour to listen and respond to changing market dynamics. We believe that the new look and our new programming line-up will pull new audiences to our channel. The channel is already available on all analog and digital platforms. With the new aggressive programming line-up, we will be able deliver better and more focused news to our viewers.”

The channel has launched OOH campaigns in Delhi and Mumbai and has tied up with Hindustan Times and Big FM for promotional activities in print and radio, respectively. Arora further said that these changes would also attract changes in the channel’s ad rates and a slight hike in ad rates is on the cards.

However, these changes are not extended to BAG’s radio channel Dhamaal 24.

BAG Network had launched Hindi news channel News24 in December 2007 and in March 2008, the group had come up with entertainment channel E24.
