Hindi daily Navbharat Times is celebrating the 60th anniversary its Mumbai edition. The paper got Bollywood actor Vidya Balan to be the guest editor for the anniversary issue on June 29, 2010. Also on the occasion, NBT organised ‘Udaan Awards’ to recognise the contribution of the nine ‘Hindi Bhashi’ people, the Navratna of Society.
Commenting on Navbharat Times’ journey over the years, Editor of the Mumbai edition, Shachindra Tripathi, said, “NBT has always been ready to mould itself according to the reader’s choice. It is usually the norm that one retires after the age of 60, but contrary to it, NBT is getting younger and focusing more on young readers.”
He further said that half of the country’s population was below 24 years. “Navbharat Times appreciates this fact and focuses more on the youth. A series of articles representing the youth and issues related to like careers, technology, etc., are being covered at length in the newspaper,” he added.
“NBT has always changed for the young at heart and we celebrate our Diamond Jubilee with a strong reader connect comprising the ‘Hindi Bhashis’ from various communities,” Tripathi concluded.
