Kashmir Images starts Jammu edition, launches business daily ‘JK Business Echo’

Alternative News Network (ANN), a newly created media company, has launched the Jammu edition of ‘Kashmir Images’, an English daily published from Srinagar since 1996. ANN has also started publishing the first financial daily of the state, ‘JK Business Echo’.

With the formal launch of the Jammu edition on March 15, 2006, Kashmir Images has become the first and only newspaper of Jammu and Kashmir with simultaneous two editions – Jammu and Srinagar.

Speaking about the idea behind launching a business daily, Zafar Choudhary, Resident Editor and co-founder of ANN, said, “Though some newspapers have a page devoted to business, there has never even a single column report on the local scenario. Therefore, the move to launch a business newspaper was well thought out and meticulously planned. The market is big and the response is tremendous. In fact, every day we receive hundreds of phone calls from even unexpected areas asking us to ensure delivery of our newspaper at the residences as well as workplaces.”

Commenting on the USP of the publications, Choudhary said, “Our mainstream daily is primarily different for being the first and only newspaper of Jammu and Kashmir with two editions. Our Jammu edition has a particular focus on the local regional aspirations. People have tremendously responded to our style reporting – investigative, in-depth and analytical.”
