Jyotin Verma appointed as HT's Business Head – Chandigarh & Punjab

Hindustan Times has appointed Jyotin Verma as Business Head of Chandigarh & Punjab. Staffers at HT Media were informed of the development late last evening via an internal email. The formal communication, which is in possession of exchange4media, noted that Verma will replace Sanjay Hazari who “expressed a desire to move on” after devoting four years to strengthening HT’s regional business in Punjab.

“The media landscape has changed dramatically over the years. It’s now time we evaluate our traditional methods of business and infuse a whole lot of new ideas, innovations, processes and controls in the way we do our business,” the email stated. Identifying Chandigarh as a “key market”, the email mentioned that Verma will report to HT English’s CEO Rajeev Beotra, who returned to HT after a stint with Star India earlier this month.

Verma joins HT from Tata Teleservices whose parent company has been involved in a bitter public spat following the sudden removal of Tata Group’s Chairman Cyrus Mistry. He was heading the organisation’s National Post Paid Business as Senior Vice President. Besides that he has also had a fair share of experience in sectors such as information technology and office automation through associations with companies like Bharti Airtel, HCL Infosystems and Reliance Communications.

An engineering graduate of the late eighties from Mumbai’s Datta Meghe College of Engineering, Verma is a keen sports enthusiast having interest in badminton, Himalayan car racing, swimming and yoga.
