Jagran plans overseas edition by next fiscal

Close on the heels of Dainik Bhaskar – leading national Hindi daily, Dainik Jagran has planned to go global. Shailesh Gupta, Director, Jagran Group, has informed exchange4media.com about the group’s plans to launch its US, Canada and UK editions by the next financial year. The overseas edition will be multilingual in nature and the group has planned to set up a separate bureau in all three destinations. “There is a high potential NRI community in these countries. The international edition will cater to the needs of these people,” Gupta reveals.

On one hand where Jagran is planning an overseas venture, its Indian expansion plans are also underway. States like HP and J&K are the targets this fiscal. Plans of starting editions in these states are on the cards. Besides couple of printing presses will be set up in other northern states. A printing press would also be set up in Chandigarh by the end of this financial year, he said.

Giving details about the advertising plans, he said the group would spend around Rs 15 crore per year on various marketing and advertising activities. This budget would remain the same. However, the editorial supplements would see changes over a period of time, he said.
