IRS Q3 2010: Maharashtra Times leads in Mumbai in all language dailies; NBT is most read Hindi daily

Language dailies in Mumbai have witnessed mixed results in the IRS Q3 2010 results, which were released on December 2, 2010. Seven out of top ten language publications have witnessed positive growth in Average Issue Readership (AIR) as compared to the Q2 results.

Marathi daily Maharashtra Times has maintained its leadership position in Maharashtra among the top language dailies. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, Navbharat Times, too, has maintained its leadership position among the top Hindi dailies. Gujarat Samachar has come up as the most read Gujarati daily in Mumbai.

Among the top five language dailies in Maharashtra, not surprisingly, four are Marathi language dailies – Maharashtra Times, Loksatta, Lokmat and Navkaal. Gujarat Samachar is ranked second in the Mumbai market.

Among Hindi dailies, Navbharat Times, Yeshobhumi and NavBharat are the top three publications as per the AIR numbers in Q3. Of the top 15 language dailies, five have seen negative growth in AIR – Lokmat, Navakal, Samana, Bombay Samchar and Sandhyakal.

[The mentioned readership figures are Average Issue Readership (AIR) figures, Total Readership (TR) may vary. After various discussions with advertisers and media buyers, as a policy exchange4media uses only AIR numbers.]
