IRS’11 Q1: No changes in top dailies

Hansa Research and Media Research User’s Council (MRUC) has released Indian Readership Survey on June17, 2011. No big changes have been seen in the topline ranking of the dailies. As per the data, among the top Ten dailies, Dainik Jagaran is still the most read daily in the country, followed by Hindi dailies Dainik Bhaskar and Hindustan. The Timed of India is the only English daily that has been able to make it its position in the list of top ten dailies of the country.

As per the IRS, Dainik Jagran with AIR (Average Issue Readership) 1.59 Crore has maintained the top rank among the most read dailies of the country. However, the daily has seen decline in AIR numbers as compared to the IRS Q4 2010 results.

On the other hand Dainik Bhaskar and Hindustan has witnessed growth in their readership numbers as against the IRS Q4 2010 results. While Dainik Bhaskar registered AIR of 1.40 Crore, Hindustan recorded AIR of 1.18 Crore.

Malyalam daily Malyala Manorama with AIR of 99.38 Lakh is ranked fourth most read daily of the country. While Amar Ujala is placed at fifth position with AIR 87.47 Lakh.

Marathi daily Lokmat with AIR 74.86 Lakh, Tamil daily Daily Thanthi with AIR 71.87 Lakh and Malayalam daily Mathrubhoomi with AIR 68 Lakh are ranked sixth, eight and tenth, most read daily of the country, respectively.

English daily The Timed of India with AIR 74.42 Lakh and Hindi daily Rajasthan Patrika with AIR 70.33 Lakh are ranked seventh and nineth in the list of top ten dailies of the country as per the Indian Readership Survey 2011 Q1 results.
