The Bangla edition of India Today was launched at The Park in Kolkata on Saturday , August 26 evening at a well attended programme graced by several dignitaries .The Guest of Honour , Shri Pranab Mukherjee , Union Minister of Defence unveiled the inaugural issue.
As reported by exchange4media last week, this is the first language edition of India Today to be launched since 1990 and is perhaps a reflection of the current bullishness around the ‘Resurgent Bengal’.
The panel discussion was moderated by Chandan Mitra, Editor-in-Chief of The Pioneer, with panelists representing the different hues of Bengal politics.
The speakers at the panel discussion included I&B Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi; West Bengal Tourism Minister Manab Mukhopadhyay; CPI-M’s Taritbaran Topdar, Md. Selim; CPI’s Shamik Lahiri; Congress’ Adhir Ranjan Choudhury; and Trinamool Congress’ Sougata Roy.
Ashish Bagga, CEO, India Today Group, said that the inaugural issue of India Today Bangla would have a print run of 70,000 and would be priced at Rs 15.
