IMC 2015: Leading publishers & marketers in deliberation at the 9th edition of IMC

The 9th edition of the Indian Magazine Congress  kicked off yesterday in Chennai. The event is held under the aegis of Association of Indian Magazines and is supported by FIPP, the world wide magazine media association.

The first day of the event started on an interesting note with the release of  Engagement Index - Magazines 2X  by Mitrajit Bhattacharya, President, AIM & President & Publisher , Chitralekha Group.

Juan Senor, Partner, Innovation Media Consultancy, UK and Co-editor, Innovations in Magazines World Report set the tone for the day with his interesting presentation and is session titled “MediaMorphosis: The future of magazines and the magazines of the future’ touching upon integral points such as integration of management and editorial teams, tips on native advertising, increasing need for SEO and analytics desks for key decision makers to understand readers better and events as the way forward to fill the gap between print and digital.

Paresh Nath, Chairman, Delhi Press Group and  B. Srinivasan, Managing Director ,Vikatan Group spoke on ‘Indian language magazines: Connecting with audiences and extending platforms’.
 



Siva Vaidhyanathan, Chairman, Department of Media Studies, University of Virginia, presented the keynote on ‘In our technological future, everything would be connected to flows of data. The question is : Who will control this ?’



Santosh Desai, MD and CEO, Future Brands presented the keynote address on ‘Emerging consumer trends and implications for magazines’.

An interesting panel discussion followed on ‘How magazines have driven our Brand’, and how they have adapted and continue to connect with consumers. Panelists were G.R Ananthapadmanabhan, Joint Managing Director, GRT Group,  S. Ramesh Pothy, Managing Director, Pothy Group ,  C.K Kumaravel, Co-founder, Naturals Beauty Salon India,  K.S Rao, Head Investor, Education & Distribution Development, Birla Sunlife Asset Management. The session was moderated by B Srinivasan.
 



The last Panel discussion for the day was : B2B Publishing- Monetising beyond Print. Panelists were Suresh Ramakrishnan, Publishing Director ,Haymarket India Pvt Ltd, Nupur Sharma, Head Marketing, Brand Strategy, Advertising & Digital,  Cisco. The session was moderated by Maneck Davar, Proprietor, Executive Editor & Publisher, Spenta Multimedia.
