Hyderabad to host 62nd World Newspaper Congress & 16th World Editors Forum in March 2009

Bahubali Shah, President, Indian Newspaper Society (INS), and Managing Director & Editor of Gujarat Samachar, made a passionate and enthusiastic appeal to WAN board members and delegates to attend the 62nd World Newspaper Congress that would be held in Hyderabad on March 22-25, 2009. The invitation was extended on the final day of the World Newspaper Congress in Göteborg, Sweden.

Shah was introduced by Pratap Pawar, Past President of INS and Chairman of Sakaal Group and head of the committee to oversee preparations for World Newspaper Congress 2009 in Hyderabad, to the august gathering at the Annual General Meeting of World Association of Newspapers (WAN).

While extending his invitation, Shah exhorted that India was the world’s largest democracy and a country that signified triumph of Freedom of Press in a free society and hence, WAN members and editors should visit and see this nation on the march.

He also played an audio-visual presentation prepared by INS to showcase India and what could be expected at the World Newspaper Congress 2009. Shah was supported in this by Pawar and Pavan Chopra, Secretary-General, INS, with the huge Indian contingent cheering on.

The 62nd World Newspaper Congress and 16th World Editors Forum would be held in Hyderabad from March 23 to March 27, 2009 at the Hyderabad Convention Centre. The Congress would offer a great opportunity for Indian business honchos, newspaper leaders and media heads to meet and interact with the top editors and newspaper conglomerates of the world.
