HT Media, ABP lead Indian publishers at Asian Media Awards

HT Media, ABP lead Indian publishers at Asian Media Awards

HT Media and ABP have won the maximum metals amongst Indian publishers at the Asian Media Awards 2013, organised by the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA). The winners were announced on September 11.

The Asian Media Awards recognise outstanding work in the fields of printing quality, design, infographics, photography, editorial content, newspaper marketing and community service among media houses in Asia Pacific, South Asia and the Middle East. The ceremony was held at Publish Asia 2013 and WAN-IFRA Expo India. Over 600 media executives from 25 countries gathered at the event.

HT Media bagged three Gold, one Silver and one Bronze metal. The three Gold metals were for Hindustan Times and Mint in Best In Print - Circulation above 150K category, as well as for Mint in the Best In Design - Newspaper Overall Design category. HT Media bagged the Silver in the Best In Editorial Content - Newspaper Feature Article for the article titled ‘India Awakened’. The Bronze was in the Best In Print - Circulation above 150K for Hindustan Media Ventures’ Hindi daily Hindustan.

Reacting to the wins, Shantanu Bhanja, VP - Marketing & Business Head, HT Media said, “We’re very happy since we have been awarded the highest honours in all aspects of our business – Editorial, Design, and Printing – as well as across all group publications – Hindustan Times, Mint and Hindustan.” 

ABP won two Golds metals in the Best In Print - Circulation above 150K category for its group publications Anandabazar Patrika and The Telegraph. The Telegraph also won a Silver in the same category.

Commenting on the wins, DD Purkayastha, MD & CEO, ABP said, “It is highly gratifying to win at the Asian Media Awards. We have been climbing up the ladder every year. We first got a Bronze, then Silver and this time, we have got the Gold. I am happy to see that the work done by our team has been recognised and awarded.”

Major international wins include South China Morning Post Publishers, which bagged one Gold, three Silver and one Bronze metals. The other international publishers that have won metals include Go Out (HK) Publishing, Taobao Tianxia (HK) Publishing, SPH Magazines PTE, PT Jawa Pos Koran, and PT Tempo Inti Media Daily, among others.
