GlaxoSmithkline to centralise $56 m UK media business

With an eye to consolidating its estimated $56 million media buying and planning business, GlaxoSmithKline U.K. Consumer Healthcare and Nutritional Healthcare has invited its three media roster agencies to make presentations.

According to industry analysts, MediaCom is emerging as a favorite, following its $600 million win of GlaxoSmithKline's consolidated media business in the U.S. in March. The company's U.K. advertising director, John Blakemore, will oversee the pitch process in August with a decision expected by September.

GlaxoSmithKline was formed by the merger of Glaxo Wellcome and SmithKline Beecham.
