Ghulam Hassan Kaloo to continue as President of Kashmir Press Association for 3 more years

At a meeting of the Kashmir Press Association (KPA), held in Srinagar on November 25, 2010, it was decided that Ghulam Hassan Kaloo would continue as the President of the body for the next three years. However, the decision of conducting the elections of this body was also taken at the meeting and the whole KPA body has been disbanded till the elections.

The meeting also debated many issues confronting the print media in Kashmir. The members paid high tributes to the commendable work done by Kaloo, known as the pioneer of English print media in Kashmir, for the betterment of the media fraternity in Kashmir Valley.

In his deliberations, Kaloo gave an outlook of the performance of the Association and the hardships they had to face in carrying forward the problems of the media fraternity to the authorities and immense success achieved in this regard.

“It has really been an odyssey for us to champion the cause of the media fraternity successfully in times of turbulence. We should all fear the Almighty to achieve success in life,” said Kaloo.

Kashmir Press Association comprises of over 63 members, who are editors of different English and Urdu newspapers from the Kashmir Valley. A six-member election commission was also set up on the occasion.

For the record, it was the 163rd meeting of the Association. The meeting saw a good presence of members who run leading publications of the Kashmir Valley as well as members of several online news agencies.
