'furs, fins and feathers' goes quarterly; priced now at Rs 75

‘furs, fins and feathers’, a magazine catering to animal lovers and wildlife enthusiasts, has turned a year old. With this, the magazine has also turned quarterly and has increased its cover price from Rs 50 to Rs 75. The magazine, published by Bangalore-based Boutique Publishing India Pvt Ltd, was earlier a monthly. The magazine has also revamped its content and introduced some new sections.

On the decision to go quarterly, Shivani Darshan, Managing Director, Boutique Publishing India Pvt Ltd, said, “We decided to go quarterly since ours is not dated content, we want to up the quality and give in-depth content to readers, besides give a coffee table book feel to the magazine. We are also focusing on working on the online version of the magazine and give animal lovers an e-magazine and a tablet format in the future.”

Darshan also informed that they were working on luvanimals, a social networking website for the animal lovers community, which is on full swing, and the new project of Boutique Publishing India will come out shortly.

She added, “New sections have been added like the Fundamental Fix, which caters to environment issues. A Follow Up section is also added, where we take our work with adoption to the next stage and do a follow up with the parents who have adopted the pet through our magazine or FB page. We are adding sections on amphibians and more focus will be now on wildlife destinations as well.”

For the current anniversary issue, socialite and Hollywood starlet Paris Hilton is featured on the cover. Celebrating Women’s Day month as well as their anniversary issue, the magazine shift gears and brings in some international female stars, including Jessica Alba, Paris Hilton, Pink and Nicole Richie. It also has a special feature on PETA and the work done by Bollywood celebrities with the organisation. ‘furs, fins and feathers’ is available in 200 stores across India.


Kranti Gada joined the family business at Shemaroo in 2006 after a successful stint of over two years in marketing at Pepsi Co. She has been associated with the company for 12 years.
