NaiDunia Media has announced its plans to launch NaiDunia in Delhi. According to company officials, the launch is expected by the end of 2008. Meanwhile, Alok Mehta, Editor of Outlook Saptahik, will take charge as Chief Editor. Prior to Outlook Saptahik, Mehta had worked with weeklies such as Saptahik Hindustan from HT Media and Dinman from The Times of India Group.
Giving the rationale behind entering the Delhi market, Vinay Chhajlani, CEO & Director, NaiDunia, said, “Delhi is an ideal place for journalism, it’s a strong market and fits well with our intention to foray into metro markets.”
Chhajlani preferred to be tight-lipped about other details pertaining to the launch. All he would say was, “Our product profile is not yet ready; there is a plan to launch in Delhi. We are now in ‘blueprint stage’, which consists of designing of the product, the content strategies and finer details like ad-edit ratio, advertising tariff, circulation figures and so on. All these decision are yet to be taken.”
NaiDunia Media had recently launched Hindi daily NavDunia in Bhopal with a print run of 130,000 copies.
