DNA to launch Jaipur edition in first week of June; to enter Bangalore by year-end

In keeping with its plans to expand in West India, DNA is launching its Jaipur edition in the first week of June. This is the second edition launched in 2008, the first being the Pune edition in January. Prior to the Pune edition, DNA had launched its Ahmedabad and Surat editions towards the end of 2007.

Confirming the news, KU Rao, CEO, Diligent Media, which publishes DNA, said, “We are looking at having a presence in all the major cities in West India, and the Jaipur launch is a step towards that. We have brought together a competent staff, which will be headed by Resident Editor Dwaipan Bose. The look and flavour of the broadsheet would be similar to the Mumbai edition except that the edition would be customised to suit the taste of Jaipur readers.”

Rao further said, “We are looking at establishing a leadership position in the city and the print run would be upwards of 40,000 copies, which I am told is the number of the existing player.”

DNA also plans to launch more editions from major cities in West India. It also has plans to launch a Bangalore edition by the end of 2008. Currently, the team is working on putting together the logistics in place for the Bangalore launch.
