DB Corp Ltd to launch Jharkhand, Bihar and Jammu editions

DB Corp Ltd has announced its plan to launch editions in Jharkhand, Bihar and Jammu as part of the group’s growth and expansion plans.

Commenting on this development, Sudhir Agarwal, Managing Director, DB Corp Ltd, said, “These are times of exciting new beginnings and we strongly feel that high economic growth is being driven by the potential of Tier II and Tier III cities and rural markets, and with our inherent leadership strengths and competitive advantages in the existing markets, and the proven and experienced availability of the team for successful new launches under varied culture and languages, we are well positioned to harness this potential as a gateway to large local catch.”

DB Corp has flagship newspapers Dainik Bhaskar, Divya Bhaskar, Business Bhaskar, and Saurashtra Samachar in its bouquet. It may be recalled that DB Corp had entered the capital markets with its IPO of 1.81 crore equity shares on December 11, 2009 at a price band of Rs 185-212.

The group publishes seven newspapers, 48 newspaper editions, and 128 sub-editions in three languages – Hindi, Gujarati and English – in 11 states in India.

Its key publications – Dainik Bhaskar (in Hindi), Divya Bhaskar and Saurashtra Samachar (in Gujarati) – position DB Corp as one of the most widely read newspaper groups in India, with presence in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarkhand, Delhi, Gujarat and Maharashtra. Divya Bhaskar claims to be the largest circulated newspaper in Gujarat. It is present in Gujarat and Maharashtra with eight editions (Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Surat, Baroda, Bhavnagar, Bhuj and Mumbai).

Its other newspaper brands include Business Bhaskar, DB Gold and DB Star, and DNA (in Gujarat and Rajasthan on a franchisee basis).
