Dainik Jagran buys Beehive's end-to-end media solutions for Channel 7

Dainik Jagran has bought Beehive System's suite of media technology solutions for its newly-launched Hindi news channel - Channel 7. The suite includes newsgathering, automated data graphics, digital logging system and interactive SMS-based solutions.

Commenting on why Dainik Jagran chose Beehive's end-to-end digital solutions, Piyush Jain, COO, Channel 7, said, "As Dainik Jagran forays into the television industry, we wanted to go with solutions that have been tried and tested and are successful. Beehive's solutions like vid'linkMOBILE, live'burst and isle'wiz are very cutting-edge in newsgathering and real-time graphics automation and the solutions are working to our satisfaction".

Dainik Jagran's 'breaking news' objective will be met by Beehive's digital newsgathering solution called live'burst, which will connect Dainik Jagran's bureaus across India to acquire and transmit live broadcast quality video on 2 Mbps leased lines connected to the bureaus. live'burst transmits video at a latency of less than one second, which results in smoother video conference.

The second newsgathering solution, vid'linkMOBILE, which is a laptop-based portable system, will help Dainik Jagran acquire and transmit video in 'Store and Forward' mode from locations away from the main bureaus. vid'linkMOBILE is a portable newsgathering equipment, that transfers video footage over extremely low network bandwidth. The advanced codec used in vid'linkMOBILE™ compresses the video almost 70 per cent more efficiently than other compression standards ensuring video quality at the same time. The biggest value addition offered by vid'linkMOBILE lies in cost savings. The cost of transferring the video from remote locations using vid'linkMOBILE is almost 80 per cent less than traditional mediums like VSAT, leased lines, etc.

The graphics automation solution, isle'wiz, will run a live news ticker for Dainik Jagran. Isle'wiz is a template-based automated data graphics solution that generates graphic templates and integrates them with data sources in real-time. Beehive has also provided Dainik Jagran with an SMS-based solution called mobile2TV, which is linked to isle'wiz and provides interactivity to Dainik Jagran's sports programmes and chat shows.

Talking about the Dainik Jagran project Ajay Pal Singh, VP-Business Development, Beehive, said, "We are confident of our solutions to produce the desired result for Dainik Jagran and are committed to giving our client full support and consulting as and when they require."
