Dainik Bhaskar to launch Dhanbad edition in mid-April

To further strengthen its presence in Jharkhand, Dainik Bhaskar is now set to launch its Dhanbad edition in mid-April. After Ranchi and Jamshedpur, Dhanbad edition would be the paper’s third launch in a row in the state.

Sanjeev Kotnala, VP, Dainik Bhaskar Group, confirmed the news to exchange4media, but refused to disclose any further details. Meanwhile, if sources are to be believed, the newspaper will hit newsstands on April 17 (Sunday) and for that, 48,000 copies have already been booked. However, the cover price of the newspaper has not been decided yet.

The Jharkhand newspaper market has seen lots of action in recent days. As per the Indian Readership Survey, overall in Jharkhand state, which is estimated to be a Rs100-crore ad market, dailies have shown positive growth in 2010 Q4 results. It may be noted that Hindi dailies had added 3.19 lakh new readers in the state in the last round of IRS 2010. Keeping all these statistics in mind, Dainik Bhaskar is set to further leverage the opportunity in the state and, its next destination in the state will reportedly be steel city Bokaro.

It may be recalled that in September 2010, DB Corp Ltd (DBCL) had announced the company’s mega plans to launch new editions and new printing centers. The newspaper has already launched its edition in J&K state in 2010, and it is expected that the newspaper will make its presence felt in the Bihar market soon.
