Cyriac Mathew to replace Manajit Ghoshal at Mid Day

After a decade-long stint with Mid Day, Manajit Ghoshal has put in his papers on March 1, 2013 as MD & CEO of Mid Day. Speaking to exchange4media, Ghoshal confirmed that Cyriac Mathew, currently COO of Mid Day, will take charge from him. However, Mathew’s new designation couldn’t be confirmed at the time of filing this report.

Ghoshal further said that the journey at Mid Day has been “terrific”. When asked about his next destination, he replied, “I am considering multiple options and will announce my next innings shortly.”

Mathew had joined Mid Day in 1986 to help launch the Delhi edition of the paper as well as Urdu daily Inquilab. During his tenure in Mid Day, Mathew has spent most of his time in Delhi, managing the regional office and has been instrumental in achieving phenomenal growth in revenues from the North.

He has been a key member of the senior management team in-charge of the IPO of Mid Day Multimedia, the first publication in the country to do so many years back. He also oversaw the complete turnaround of Gujarati Mid Day. Mathew has been a core member of the Radio Group to lobby and support the government in taking the decision to privatise the radio broadcasting business in India.

Mathew was instrumental in introducing a rate card with 17 different rates for various categories of advertisers based on the readership numbers for each of the categories, thereby registering a substantial improvement in the yield.

He is a commerce graduate and a postgraduate diploma holder in business administration. He also has a diploma from the Scandinavian International Management Institute for the Leaders programme launched by WAN and IFRA and held in Denmark.
