Catch News appoints Payal Puri as Editor-at-Large, Kunal Majumder as Editor, Operations

Patrika Group’s CATCH News is on a hiring spree. The new multi-media digital platform is aiming to cater to young minds and avid news readers. In two major appointments, CATCH News has now got Payal Puri and Kunal Majumder on board. 

Puri will be responsible for curating the site's eclectic vibrant mix of stories from observations of life to lifestyle. She has a career span ranging over 19 years in media, Payal Puri has worked on magazines, events, websites and briefly in television. She has been editor of Cosmopolitan magazine in India for 5 years and executive editor of India Today's travel title, Travel Plus, among others. She has also been editorial director of PopXo (formerly eStylista), a women's lifestyle site launched in 2013 as well as a freelance contributor to magazines including Harper's Bazaar, Good Housekeeping and Women's Health.

At CATCH, Puri is part of the founding team and will be responsible for the lifestyle and features ends of the site. She is also involved with social media planning, is a passionate advocate of all things digital and has a love for science, food, fashion, and the good life that she hopes the site will come to reflect.

Majumder, 30, is Editor of Operations and Speed News desk at CATCH. Majumder previously worked with Zee Media Corp and Images Multimedia. Winner of Statesman Award for Rural Reporting in 2010 and UNFPA-Laadli Award for gender sensitivity in 2011, In 2014, Majumder joined ZMCL as Associate Editor incharge of political content on dnaindia.com and india.com before going on to head the online editorial team at DNA. Majumder is the youngest among the founder-editors of CATCH and is known for his fanatical obsession with story page views.

CATCH will not just report surface facts but try to explain causes, impacts and chains of consequences. It will seek understanding and opinion: not just express one’s own. It will be angular and provocative and challenge settled notions. But also be a voice of reason, willing to take stands against the herd.
