Britannia net profit up by 15.5%

The net profit for the current year includes Rs 4.1 crore towards VRS costs and Rs 16.8 crore as reversal of previous year’s liabilities. After consideration of this net profit for the current year comes to Rs 70.5 crore as compared to Rs 51 crore for the previous year.

The company has also acquired the trade mark “Kwality”, the chief device and several other trademarks owned by Kwality Biscuits of Bangalore. The company has agreed to acquire 49 per cent equity of Kwality Biscuits and the transaction will be completed by 2001-2002.
