Bangalore-based Boutique Publishing India Pvt Ltd has come out with its first magazine, titled ‘furs, fins and feathers’ . Priced at Rs 35, the monthly is a one-stop information guide for all animal lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. The first edition of the magazine focuses on Bangalore, though the plan is to take it forward and include more parts of South India from the next edition and then move on to have a national footprint.
Commenting on the new magazine, Shivani, Publisher and Managing Director, Boutique Publishing India, said, “The magazine takes the stance of being ‘Glocal’, where the thought is global, but the action is local. Similarly, though the product is from a start-up, the thought process behind is very global and the content is local, which will appeal and cater to the population with a South focus.”
The magazine is divided into two sections: the first part addresses pet owners, while the second part caters to wildlife followers on animal extinction and protection, besides other relevant subjects. There will be regular contributions from People From Animals (PFA) and Compassion Unlimited Plus Action (CUPA).
Talking about the future plans, Shivani said, “We are looking at extending the presence of the magazine and plan to come out with a Mumbai edition in May, followed by Delhi. The difference in our offering is that it provides wholesome and a variety of news and articles on animals, including a unique section where a page is dedicated to the adoption of the animals.”
Shivani experience of being in the media has helped her in coming out with this venture. She said, “Media has the power to push and drive a cause, which led me to come out with this magazine. ‘furs, fins and feathers’ will provide all the information for pet owners and animal lovers.” Before this venture, Shivani was with Viacom18, heading the South Sales for Nickelodeon. She has also headed the Bangalore sales for Big FM.
