Aveek Sarkar resigns as Editor of The Telegraph, Anandabazar Patrika

Aveek Sarkar has resigned as Group Editor of "The Telegraph" and "Anandabazar Patrika".

Sarkar said the resignation was just part of a succession plan and that he would continue as chairman of the group, according to media reports.

Anirban Bhattacharya has been appointed as the new editor of the Anandabazaar Patrika while Rajagopalan has been appointed as the new editor of The Telegraph.

The Kolkata-based ABP group is one of the oldest media empires in India.
