Angel Cinevision & Media launches Bengali daily

Angel Cinevision and Media (A division of Angel Agritech Group of Companies) launched a new Bengali daily newspaper, ‘Sambad Akhon’ on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Rabindra Sadan.

The newspaper was launched by Railway Minister of India Mukul Roy.

“The success of the newspaper is a mirror image of the critical role that brand building can play for a new entrant. It reflects across our processes. Media is a fish that lives in the vast ocean of democracy. Hence, strengthening media will result in the strengthening of democracy” said Roy.

Sambad Akhon would consist of 10 main pages and eight supplementary pages and is priced at Rs 2. Apart from the regular content, an eight-page special supplement catering to various interests will be circulated with the main edition every day with an exception on Sunday when a magazine consisting of current affairs and infotainment will be disseminated with the newspaper. The supplements will focus on a range of topics such as literature, astrology, lifestyle, movies, health, travel, education, entertainment, etc.

Commenting on the new publication, Editor of Sambad Akhon, Sk. Hasibul Haque said, “Today, Bengali newspaper readers are very mindful when it comes to choosing their morning paper. We will meet their requirements by providing infotainment and unbiased news.”

Sumantra Banerjee, Chief Executive Officer, Sambad Akhon said, “We are proud to launch Sambad Akhon and this new publication will endeavour to give Kolkata a new experience in the print industry. We strongly believe that a newspaper has the capability to compel positive transformation in the social order.”

The launch was also graced by the presence of various eminent personalities – from politicians to celebrities and also sportsmen. The list of guests included: Arup Roy, MIC, Agriculture Marketing; Rachpal Singh, Tourism Minister; Pirjada Toha Siddique, Furfura Sharif ; Madan Mitra, Minister of State for Sports; Sambaran Banerjee, Former Cricketer; Jaya Seal Ghosh, Actress; Parijat Chakraborty, Model and Actress and many others.

Official website and e-paper will also be launched shortly. The paper will be available on the stands from July 25, 2012.
