All India launch of ‘BBC Knowledge’ magazine today

‘BBC Knowledge’ magazine, from the Worldwide Media stable is going to be launched today, October 27, 2010. The magazine will be priced at Rs 100 and will be available at newsstands from November 1, 2010. KA Advertising will be the creative agency of the magazine whereas the media buying and planning will be done in-house.

Commenting on the launch, Tarun Rai, CEO, Worldwide Media, said, “BBC Knowledge’ debuted in the United States in 2008 and went on to become the most successful launch of the year. We are excited to bring this very unique magazine to India, that is meant to stimulate the mind and empower a younger generation of readers.”

‘BBC Knowledge’ magazine is a much awaited launch from Worldwide Media, which is a Times Group and BBC Worldwide joint venture. The content of the magazine is an amalgamation of three other BBC magazines namely ‘Wildlife’, ‘Focus’ and ‘History’. The magazine will be bi-monthly to start off, with 100 per cent international content, albeit hand-picked for the Indian audience. The magazine will seek to leverage itself through the widespread distribution network of The Times of India group.

Preeti Singh, Editor, BBC Knowledge, reiterated, “We are very excited to be launching BBC Knowledge in India. This magazine is pure joy from the first page to the last. The secrets of the world are presented in such an accessible way that it is bound to be a delight for young minds.”

BBC Knowledge is a magazine aimed at young inquisitive minds where well-researched, handpicked stories are matched with arresting visuals and graphics to elucidate subjects covering science, history and nature. It provides easy explanations for interesting phenomenon, broaching topics like forensics, chaos theory, artificial intelligence, animal behaviour, and lots more.

 

Speaking about the launch, Prachi Tiwari, Publisher, BBC Knowledge, acknowledged, “As a magazine, BBC Knowledge brings to life, all-that one wants to know in the realms of science, history and nature. We are confident that the magazine delivers on its promise to enrich young minds, with information about the most complex of occurrences and events, in a very simple way.”

BBC Knowledge is today available in USA, Brazil, Singapore, Bulgaria and UK. The magazine was voted among the Top 10 newly launched magazines of 2008 by Library Journal, USA.
