After Samagam and Manthan, Hindustan launches Education Abhiyan 2010

As part of 2020 Vision, an integrated upliftment programme, Hindi daily Hindustan has launched yet another awakening programme – ‘Education Abhiyan 2010’. It may be recalled that prior to this initiative, Hindustan had also launched ‘Samagam’ and ‘Manthan’ in UP, Bihar and Jharkhand to mull over the present condition of these states and future objectives.

‘Education Abhiyan 2010’ will be devoted to kids in the Hindi belt. Speaking on the launch of this ‘Abhiyan’, Shashi Shekhar, Editor-in-Chief, Hindustan, said, “Through this programme, we want to educate the youth who will be the future of the country. This programme is a part of Hindustan’s 2020 Vision. We understand that India cannot become a superpower without developing its villages and small towns, and as a responsible newspaper, we took this step to educate kids and their parents in the Hindi belt.”

Education Abhiyan, which will last for four months from April 7 to July 31, 2010, will focus on various core issues of the education sector. During this period, Hindustan will impart information to the young generation about 36 different career opportunities. In case someone has any doubts on any subject, he can put his queries to the experts. From May onwards, a section called ‘Learn English’ will be introduced to make Hindi speaking youths more proficient in English language. Following this, there will be ‘Education Fairs’ will be held in various cities where people can internalise the knowledge imparted by the educationists of our country. Shekhar further said, “We will expand our already existing scholarship programme under this Abhiyan, which will help the financially poor but bright students in their further education.”

Meanwhile, Hindustan is also planning to create a special sub-department for the education beat. Shekhar stated, “We are getting our staff trained for this Education Abhiyan. A sub-department is likely to be formed that will take care of education-related stories and queries.”
