Bhartiya Janta Party frequently uses the fourth pillar of the democracy in order to target their opponents, be it in Bihar, New Delhi or Mumbai. After some controversial advertisements in Bihar which were banned by the Election Commission, BJP has now put up a hoarding against Aam Aadmi Party on the recent garbage row.
A blame game has kick started between the Centre and AAP over the strike by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. The MCD has been dumping garbage on the streets of the Capital in order to highlight a string of demands, one being timely payment of salaries.
The BJP government’s hoarding claims that the AAP government owes a sum of Rs 1.32 crore to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.
In an open letter released in newspapers, Delhi CM, Arvind Kejriwal rejected claims that the Delhi government owes money to the civic body. He went on to ask the Delhi Development Authority to release Rs 1500 crore as property tax to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.
The open letter advertisement highlighted that the Delhi Government has given Rs 2370 crore which is more than the amount MCD is liable to receive. Rs 511 crore extra was given to the civic body this year.
