Aaj Samaj firms base in Haryana with Kaithal & Jind editions

Aaj Samaj is ready to launch its Kaithal and Jind editions in Haryana on September 28, 2011. With this, the newspaper has accomplished its plans to cover the entire state of Haryana with customised editions for each of the 21 districts. The newspaper is priced at Rs 3 across the state.

Rakesh Sharma, CEO, India News Group, shared the achievements of Aaj Samaj, which is part of his group. He recalled, “We started our journey in Haryana in December 2009 when we started Ambala Press. We promised the state that each district will have an edition. And, now we will be the first newspaper in Haryana that will have a presence in each district.”

Over the past few months, some of the districts that Aaj Samaj has launched its editions from are - Ambala, Kurukshetra, Yamuna Nagar, Karnal, Panipat, Sonipat, Sirsa, Satehabad, Hisar, Bhiwani, Rohtak, Bahadurgarh, Gurgaon, Mewar, Rewari, Narnaul and Palwal, among others.

Sharma observed, “Because of the ‘Shradh’ period, we had deferred the launch of the Kaithel and Jind editions.” He added, “This will give us a strong foothold in the state, making us the largest selling newspaper here.”

With this move, the group has completed its first round of print expansion. Sharma further divulged, “We have plans to enter Himachal Pradesh and Punjab early next year.”

The group released the Little Hearts online-only campaign, #BreakSomeHearts, early this year and is on the path to make many more of its brands available on the digital platform
