Zee Kannada has appointed TV artist Malavika Avinash, popularly known as ‘Madhavi Patel’, as its Head, Programming. Avinash is an industry veteran with over two decades’ experience.

Commenting on her appointment, Ajay Kumar, Business Head, Zee South Channels, said, “As the Programming Head, Malavika would be responsible for developing unique programming content. She would also strive to provide vibrant, entertaining, and educative programmes in consonance with the culture, tradition, likes and dislikes of the people of Karnataka.”

“Malavika brings to us immense industry experience and we are sure her presence will add a great deal of value to the channel. She comes on board with strong intent and drive to spearhead Programming that matters to the ever-appreciative Kannada television audiences,” Kumar further said.

Venkat Giridhar, Business Head, Zee Kannada, said, “Malavika’s appointment would be a morale booster to the entire crew. We hope to leverage on her brilliant ideas, plans, thoughts and experience.”

“It is perhaps very unusual for an actor to become Head of Programming of a channel. I deem this vocation as both a challenge and an honour. I, however, will continue to be an actor,” said Avinash. She had also acted in a Tamil soap opera, ‘Anni’, which was directed by K Balachander. She has also played the host in several television shows.

Avinash began her acting career as a child artiste at the age of eight. She has also served as Assistant Editor with Madhyam.
