Vivek Kumar, Regional Director, Maxus Singapore has put in his papers. He will be joining Shell as Head, Brand and Customer Value Proposition teams for Shell Oil Products (Retail) across Asia-Pacific from June 15, 2006. He will be reporting to Brooks W Herring, Global General Manager-Brand and CVP, Shell Oil Products (Retail).
At Maxus Singapore, Kumar was Regional Director on Jaguar and Land Rover (for importer markets in Asia) and Shell Petroleum (Asia Pacific) accounts. He also headed large local accounts such as OCBC Bank, CK Tang, and Lion Capital, among others.
Commenting on the reasons for the move, Kumar said, “I am moving on from Maxus after three fabulous years. It has been a great journey where we have done some excellent work for our clients as a team. I felt it was time to take on a wider role covering more diverse responsibilities. It is a great opportunity to work for a global brand like Shell. I am looking forward to be able to make a positive contribution.”
Kumar has earlier worked with Starcom Worldwide and Initiative, where he managed a wide portfolio of brands such as Procter & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, Nestle, LG Electronics, AT&T Wireless, etc.
He is also an advisor to clients in developing and driving communications strategies in APAC, his experience in communications planning spans across multiple markets and covers product categories as diverse as baby diapers and luxury cars. He has appeared in “Asia’s Top Brand Builders 2004” special issue of Media magazine.
Kumar holds a masters degree in marketing communications management from MICA. He was a finalist for “Young Professional of the Year” at the Singapore Advertising Hall of Fame Awards. He has conducted training sessions on communications planning at client workshops in India, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, and the UK. He has also been a guest faculty to MICA and Symbiosis B-schools.
