Vivek Bahl moves on from STAR, heads to Mahuaa TV

Vivek Bahl, Executive Vice President, STAR India, is moving on from the organisation after a stint of four years. Even as Bahl’s last working day in the company is March 25, 2011, he would continue to work on STAR’s forthcoming projects ‘Mahabharat’ and ‘Navya’, which he is co-producing.

In the last four years, Bahl has seen many changes in his role at STAR. He first started as Head for Content of all new shows on Star Plus in 2007. Under his charge, the channel launched shows like ‘Pratigyaa’, 'Bidaai' and 'Ye Rishtaa Kya Kahlaata Hai' to the most recent property 'Saathiya'.

Bahl was soon given supervisory role for STAR One, where he launched shows like ‘Mile Jab Hum Tum’ & ‘Dil Mil Gaye’. A year later, he was also offered a role that required giving creative direction to all STAR India channels, including the regional properties like Star Pravah and Star Jalsha.

Bahl's next assignment is now at Mahuaa TV, where he would be joining as Consultant. Even as Bahl is exiting STAR for all practical purposes, it is interesting to note that the company has still allowed him charge of Mahabharat, a show that the channel has been working on for almost two years now, and Bahl's own co-production 'Navya'.

At Mahuaa TV, Bahl would be looking after the company's Bhojpuri and Bengali channels. It is understood that he would be working on two forthcoming regional channels from Mahuaa TV as well. It is understood that Mahuaa TV has ambitions in the Hindi general entertainment genre in the future too, which again would come under Bahl’s portfolio when work on it begins.

Confirming the development of his move to exchange4media, Bahl said, "Regional is an exciting opportunity and I am looking forward to it. I have had a great time working with STAR India for the last four years, and I am looking forward to work with them in the future as well."

Prior to STAR India, Bahl was in the content function of Zee TV, heading fiction.
