Vishnu Athreya returns to Turner Entertainment Networks Asia

Vishnu Athreya has been appointed Director-Programming Acquisitions and Development for Turner Entertainment Networks Asia (TENA) Inc. He will join early next year and will be based in Hong Kong. Athreya will work closely with TENA’s Programming and Original Production teams across Asia Pacific.

In his new role, Athreya will spearhead strategic relationships with various content providers to maximise those partnerships in securing the best content possible. At TENA, he will acquire and develop original content for Turner’s kids’ channels in the region.

On the new appointment, Mark Eyers, Executive Director-Programming, TENA, said, “We are very pleased to have a talented and enthusiastic professional like Athreya among us again. Athreya’s passion and zest for the kids’ business will prove to be a great asset for us. His insight and knack for understanding what audiences want, will further strengthen the existing programming department. He is the perfect candidate to help take our businesses to the next level in what is an increasingly competitive TV landscape.”

Athreya returns to Turner after a break of two years. Prior to this appointment, he was the head of programming and brand for Radio One Network and was responsible for the strategic vision, brand marketing and content of their five stations across India.

In his previous role at Turner, Athreya was Senior Programming Manager, Cartoon Network, India and South Asia. During that stint, he was responsible for the development of Cartoon Network’s programming strategy, which included commissioning, acquiring and scheduling for the channel in India and South Asia.
