STAR India has been bullish on the sports category, going beyond cricket in a move to be synonymous with sports consumption in India, and has been seen investing towards this goal.
The appointment of Shubhranshu Singh, former Marketing Director, India & South Asia at Visa, as Senior VP and Head of Marketing of Star Sports India (as confirmed by industry sources) is another step that the broadcaster is taking to strengthen its position in the sports arena in India.
Singh comes from the classical marketing school system of Hindustan Unilever, where he worked in various marketing roles for nearly a decade. He then moved on to Diageo, where he was National Head- Customer Marketing. Singh joined Visa in July 2011.
Singh is also an eloquent speaker at industry events, and has been a panellist at the 13th edition of the exchange4media Conclave 2013 and IMPACT’s Roundtable on ‘What Youth Want’.
