Brand David Communications, or David, will have a new Vice-President and General Manager, Chennai, from today. Vijay Jacob moves in from G3, Chennai, and will look after Chennai and Hyderabad operations for David. Jacob moves into the position left vacant by Raja Ganapathy, who is now with Deutsche Bank.

Confirming the appointment, Kumar Subramaniam, President, David, said, “It has taken some time because we were very particular about the person coming on board. We are very happy with someone like Jacob coming on board because besides what he brings to the table in terms of experience in various roles across segments, he resonates the David spirit very strongly.”

Vijay Jacob was Branch Head at G3 Chennai till now, and has served in marketing and sales for Eveready in the West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat markets, besides being part of, FountainHead and Grey in his 11-year career. And he’s looking forward to the new assignment.

He said, “I am definitely looking forward to it. David is on a huge expansion spree, and it would be nice to be part of the next big leap of the agency.”

Josy Paul, Chairman and National Creative Director, David, was on his way to Australia to be part of the jury at the Young Guns Festival, when we caught up with him. He said, “It’s great that Jacob is joining us on Children’s Day – a day that’s very auspicious for us at David.”

Sharing that it didn’t take long for the agency to freeze on Jacob, he added, “It didn’t take us more than two-and-a-half seconds to decide – he had that effect on us. That’s the day I realised that the book ‘Blinks’ works.”

In addition to his responsibilities of Chennai and Hyderabad, David would be a central resource on issues relating to planning for the organisation, added Paul.
