UTV restructures core team of UTV Motion Pictures

UTV Motion Pictures has rejigged its top management team. Siddharth Roy Kapur has been elevated as CEO. Kapur was earlier EVP, Marketing, Distribution & Syndication. In his new role, Kapur will spearhead UTV’s motion pictures business. He will continue reporting to Ronnie Screwvala, CEO, UTV Software Communications Ltd.

Alpana Mishra has been made COO Production. She will now overlook film production and development for UTV Motion Pictures. Vikas Bahl has been promoted as COO, UTV Spotboy Motion Pictures, and will spearhead UTV Spotboy, the film development and production arm launched by UTV Motion Pictures last year. Both of them will report to Kapur. The marketing, distribution, syndication and international teams will also continue to report to him.

Ram Mirchandani will set up a separate film development and production arm funded by UTV Motion Pictures.

Announcing the key elevations, Screwvala said, “The core team at UTV Motion Pictures has been instrumental in driving the growth of the company over the last few years. As we move to the next level in our operations, we are happy to streamline the structure to ensure the same pace in decision-making and creative judgment that has served us well in the past. I am confident that Siddharth and his team will help lead the company well in this new phase of growth.”

UTV Motion Pictures opened 2008 with movies like ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ and ‘Race’. The other films awaiting release include M Night Shayamlan’s ‘The Happening’, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s ‘Delhi 6’, Shyam Benegal’s ‘Mahadev’, Aziz Mirza’s ‘Kismat Konnection’, Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Fashion’, and Shoojit Sircar’s ‘Shoebite’ starring Amitabh Bachchan, Dia Mirza and Sarika.
