Top level revamp in India TV sales team; 2 more channels on the anvil

In a major revamp in its sales team, India TV has promoted Amit Kumar as Group Business Head. Gautam Sharma will be the new Head of National Sales. The changes were announced at the company’s sales conference in Goa.

Amit Kumar, who was heading National Sales for last three years, will now handle new ventures and expansion plans. Gautam Sharma, who joined India TV four months ago from Star News, will lead the sales team. Wajid Khan, who was handling sales for the Western Region, will now have additional responsibility of South.

Speaking to exchange4media, Ritu Dhawan, Managing Director, India TV, said, “Amit Kumar has been rewarded for his efforts during last three years. He will now work closely with the top management team on our ambitious expansion plans. Gautam has been elevated to the challenging role considering his enthusiastic approach during his short but productive four months with India TV.”

Addressing the sales meet in Goa, Dhawan announced that India TV would launch two more channels this year. She also revealed India TV’s ambitious plan to start a Broadcast Television Training Institute in 2011.
