Suresh Iyer quits Raj TV as CEO, to float own venture

Raj Television Network CEO Suresh Iyer has put in his papers after a little over a year stint with the organisation. He is planning to float his own venture in the media space. Confirming the development, Iyer said that he was involved in talks with several television channels and multiplexes in connection with his own venture.

Further elaborating on his new venture, he said that his new company would be registered in Mumbai, but he would be doing lot of activities in South India.

“All along in my life, I have been an entrepreneur and it’s a mistake I have done by joining as an employee in a company,” admitted Iyer.

He had joined Raj TV in May 2008, prior to which he was Group President - Marketing at Pyramid Saimira. Iyer had also founded New Age Entertainment, an airtime selling company, but later sold it to In House Productions.

Raj TV has witnessed a churn in the recent past with quite a few top executives leaving the organisation at regular intervals. Sargunan Venugopal, who had joined Raj Television Network as President - Sales and Marketing, in February 2008, left the organisation after spending a few days there. Similarly, Raju Easwaran, COO of Raj TV, quit the organisation in September 2007 after a year. Others to leave include: V Murugan, who quit the organisation as Vice-President - Sales and Marketing in May 2008, and Subramanian Iyer, who left the organisation in January 2008 as National Head - Sales and Marketing.
