Suresh Balakrishnan, DNA’s Sales & Marketing Head, quits

Diligent Media, which publishes Daily News & Analysis (DNA), has just lost its Head, Sales and Marketing, Suresh Balakrishnan, who has put in his papers. Balakrishnan has been with DNA ever since its launch. Balakrishnan put in his papers on February 28, 2007, but will be there till the handover process is finished. His last working day with DNA will be March 31, 2007.

Confirming the development, DNA’s HR Head Arup Gupta informed that a replacement hasn’t been identified yet. “There is a structure in place right now for both sales and marketing and this will continue at present,” he said.

When contacted, Balakrishnan informed that he had not decided on destination next yet but that he would continue to be in the media space. “It’s a good time to take a break and I’m going to take my time in deciding on my next assignment,” he said.

Speaking more on his stint with DNA, he said, “I have finished two years here and I think I have done what I had to do. The paper is established and is the number two paper in Mumbai. I’ve enjoyed the thrill of launching the paper in this city and I think it is now time to move on to other areas.”

Prior to DNA, Balakrishnan was with Hindustan Times in Delhi from January 2003 to early 2005 as VP-Media Marketing. Before that, he was heading Linterland, the rural division of Lintas Media. In 2005, he had joined Zee Entertainment Enterprise Ltd (ZEEL) as Executive Vice-President, Marketing, but was moved to DNA when ZEEL joined hands with the Bhaskar Group to launch DNA in Mumbai.
