Suresh Bala headed to US to head Zee

Suresh Bala, who quit Zoom, the lifestyle channel from Bennett, Coleman and Company Ltd (BCCL), as CEO in June 2010, will be heading Zee’s international business in the US.

As per industry sources close to the development, Bala will be joining as Chief Executive Officer - Americas, heading the entire North American region as the territory head. Besides Zee TV, he will be responsible for Veriya, the natural health and wellness company owned by the Essel Group, launched in 2002.

He will be based out of New York and will report to a matrix of top level management comprising Bharat Ranga, Head of Zee Entertainment’s International Business, and Punit Goenka, Managing Director and CEO at ZEEL. His date of joining could not be ascertained.

Bala had joined BCCL in 2006 and was reporting to Arun Arora, who was the then Executive President for the network. Thereafter, he reported to Sunil Lulla, who had rejoined the company in 2009 as Managing Director, Times Television Group. Prior to BCCL, Bala had been part of the programming function at Channel [v] and also worked at Grey as part of his work portfolio.
