Sunil Lulla, who is transitioning from his current role as CEO of Times Global Broadcasting Company Ltd, is set to join Alva Brothers as Director on the Board of three of its companies – the holding company of Alva Brothers, Miditech Pvt Ltd and the soon-to-be-launched general entertainment broadcasting network with Turner International. On March 1, 2008, Lulla will additionally take on the role of Group CEO across the Alva Brothers group and its subsidiaries.
With a financial interest in the group, the new role offers Lulla entrepreneurial opportunities and also enables him to build valuable business brands across the content chain. The immediate mandate would see a dual focus from the Alva Brothers management – the primary objective of Miditech would be to continue and build the relationship that the content creator has with leading broadcasters. The broadcasting venture, on the other hand, which is a 50:50 JV with Turner, is an independent business with its own team. This venture is planning to roll out a channel later this year.
Lulla said, “Over the next 3-4 years, we would have a spectrum of businesses which are across different content formats, which are independent viable businesses, and would serve the content needs of different audiences.”

Lulla has successfully built businesses and brands like MTV, SET India, Indya.com, Smirnoff and HMV (now renamed Sa Re Ga Ma) to name a few. He was associated with MTV’s high-profile climb to the numero uno music channel position. SET India’s hit TV shows like ‘Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin’ and ‘Indian Idol’ for Sony came under his leadership. He was most recently associated with the success of Times Now as a leading English news channel. With over 24 years of experience across marketing, media and management, Lulla has enjoyed senior positions with JWT India, Taiwan and China; Diageo; and HMV (now renamed Sa Re Ga Ma).
