Starcom Worldwide appoints Ashwini Kamat as Bangalore head

Starcom has appointed Ashwini Kamat as head of their Bangalore office. Kamat was previously responsible for training and new business development for Starcom nationally. She moves into the role vacated by Sindhuja Rai, General Manager, who has put in her papers.

Commenting on the appointment, Sandeep Lakhina, Managing Director – India, West & South, Starcom Worldwide, said, “Sindhuja is leaving Starcom as she has some personal priorities to take care of. We value her contribution to Starcom during her stint here. Ashwini is a Starcom veteran, and it is always a good feeling to have an old Starcom hand take over an important role. In Ashwini, I am confident that we have the right leader for Bangalore. Her strong previous experience, robust capabilities and enthusiastic attitude will surely be an asset as we continue to stabilise and grow the business in the city.”

Lakhina added, “I will work closely with both Sindhuja and Ashwini over the next few weeks to make the transition process a smooth affair, primarily with respect to our team, our clients and our business / operations.”

Commenting on her new role, Kamat said, “In the challenging and ever evolving media space, Starcom’s ‘People First’ culture is what has kept me here for the last six years. I am very glad to have been given the opportunity to shape this vision and continue to bring it to life for our team in Bangalore. I look forward to leading this team to deliver a strong strategic product, using the strong set of tools processes and systems from our global Starcom network, as well as delighting our clients with our unique planning process on ‘Connections that Captivate’.”

Prior to moving to Bangalore in 2007, Kamat was based in Mumbai since she joined Starcom in 2002. She has handled clients such as VVF, Heinz, Western Union, HDFC and Fiat, among others, in the past in Starcom’s Mumbai office.
