Starcom MediaVest Group has announced new additions to its key team. People who have come on board are Girish Upadhyay and Patrick Gomes as Associate Media Directors, while Mandir Tendolkar is the new Media Director-Ideation.
Commenting on the new appointments, Manish Porwal, Executive Director, Starcom MediaVest Group, said, “The inclusion of Mandir, Girish and Patrick is a strategic and futuristic move to strengthen the core team in Starcom Mumbai. Starcom is known for its craft and its understanding of client business as much as of media. As leaders of two business teams, Girish and Patrick are expected to take this craft to an even more enviable level. As Media Director-Ideation, Mandir is a pan-agency resource and will be a catalyst to elevate the creative part of our product.”
“The new role signifies our commitment to prepare for tomorrow, today. I personally know of no other media agency which has created such a role. The three of them bring to us 30-plus years of understanding of the media, and most from the real challenging time, the previous decade,” Porwal added.
Tendolkar, who has over 16 years’ experience, is a creative person whose vocation has been media. Her role in Starcom is to be an ‘Idea Catalyst’ and pump in creativity in the agency’s existing research driven work. She would be instrumental in uplifting the strategy and preparing the conduit between the consumer insights generated by respective account teams and the final nuts and bolts of activation. She would report directly to Porwal, who is slated to take charge as Managing Director (India-West and South) from January 1, 2007.
Upadhyay and Gomes would be looking after three of the six large account management teams in Starcom and report to General Manager, Srikanth Raman. Upadhyay comes with experience on AORs like Godrej, Kotak, Airtel, ICICI and Reliance, and had begun his career in research with ACNeilson ORG-MARG working on large FMCGs like Colgate and Marico.
Gomes is back from Dubai, where he was looking after the regional account for Nokia across 14 countries in the MEA market. While in India, he has gained immense knowledge working on marquee brands like Volkswagen, Intel, Oracle, Tata, Godrej and Cadbury.
