STAR India appoints Paritosh Joshi as President - Ad Sales and Distribution

STAR India’s long search for a revenue head is finally over. Effective August 7, STAR India COO, Sameer Nair, has brought in a further change in the ad sales structure with the appointment of Paritosh Joshi as President, Advertising Sales and Distribution. Joshi will report into Nair and the present EVPs in the two streams of revenue – Ad Sales and Distribution – will subsequently report into him.

Commenting on the new appointment, Nair said, “We are delighted to have Paritosh on board. As industry leaders, STAR has taken a number of initiatives in the last couple of years to drive revenue growth for the industry in ad sales and distribution. Kevin and Tony have led these initiatives and successfully taken their respective functions to the leadership position in the industry.”

“With the industry poised for rapid growth and our viewership continuing to reach new heights, Paritosh will work with the current team to further enhance our already highly successful operations and to draw the blueprint for the next phase of growth,” he stressed.

With the appointment of Joshi, the two major revenue streams of ad sales and distribution of STAR India will be consolidated under one head. Joshi’s key focus would be to form long-term sustainable growth strategy for the two revenue streams. Kevin Vaz, (EVP Ad Sales), Kaushal Dalal (EVP, Ad sales planning) and Tony D’Silva (EVP Distribution) will report into him.

The STAR India ad sales structure becomes quite an elaborate one now, given the recent changes that have been induced in it. On top of the helm of affairs is Nair, followed by Joshi now, and then the line of EVPs in Vaz, Dalal and Joshi.

In regard to ad sales, the corporate now follows a mix in selling formats with network selling for the top clients and standalone channel selling in the next rung of clients.

Joshi brings with him 20 years of experience in sales and marketing in companies like ITC, P&G, Business Standard, Maharaja and Quest.
