Star India has a new Marketing Head. The country’s largest television network has appointed Anupam Vasudev as Executive Vice-president, Marketing & Communications. He joined earlier this week. A marketing veteran of 18 years in the FMCG category across Asia and the US, Vasudev, in his last assignment, was with SC Johnson, USA, where he was Regional Marketing Director-Asia, Consumer Products Division, for six years.
Confirming the development, Uday Shankar, CEO, Star India, told exchange4media, “For a company like ours, there is a huge role for someone like Anupam with his background. Unfortunately, in India, the marketing role in media is often reduced to handling advertisements and hoardings. But for a content company like ours, marketing is much more than that -- it is a critical function as it involves understanding the viewers. Anupam brings the right kind of skill-sets for the Star Network.”
Prior to joining SC Johnson, Vasudev was with Hindustan Levers (now Hindustan Unilever) in India for twelve years. At Levers, he had handled diverse roles in Sales and Marketing.
