STAR Ananda Executive Producer Suman Chattopadhay quits

Suman Chattopadhay, a well-known name in the Bengali media, has put in his papers as Executive Producer of STAR Ananda, the 24-hour Bengali news channel that went on air from June this year.

Chattopadhay, it may be recalled, was part of the start-up team of STAR Ananda, which has been put on air by Media Content & Communications Services India, a 74:26 per cent joint venture between ABP TV and the STAR Group. The Bengali news channel is part of the STAR system and was driven from its Mumbai headquarters.

Chattopadhay has had a distinguished career in print journalism. He was Executive Editor (News) of the widely circulated Bengali daily ‘Ananda Bazar Patrika’ prior to his moving to the electronic media.

While Chattopadhay confirmed this development, he was not forthcoming on his future plans. However, the industry buzz is that he will soon be partnering another set of promoters to launch a new Bengali television channel.
