Sriram Sharma to take over as GM of Maxus Bangalore; agency beefs up Delhi, Mumbai operations

Sriram Sharma, Business Director on the Titan account at Maxus Bangalore, will be appointed General Manager of the agency’s Bangalore operations from June 1, 2006. He takes over from Anil George, who has decided to move on around the middle of next month.

Sharma has been with Maxus since 2003. He began his career with Maa Bozell in 1996. He has also worked with McCann Erickson, Hughes Software and Initiative Media prior to joining Maxus.

Confirming the development to exchange4media, CVL Srinivas, CEO, Maxus, India & Asia Pacific, said, “Anil will be pursuing his career interests outside of the media agency industry. He has played a big part in making Maxus Bangalore a strong and vibrant office. We wish him the very best in his new assignment.”

Maxus Bangalore handles several blue chip businesses, including Titan Industries, Britannia Industries, Himalaya, AMD, and MTR, among others.

Maxus, which has been on a strong growth track in recent times, has doubled its billings in the past two years on the strength of some heavy-duty clients. Eight of its current top 10 clients have been won in this period. Among its top 10 clients are Nokia, Hero Honda, Hutch, Titan, Britannia, TataSky, Dabur, Perfetti, Tata Motors and GE Money.

Regarding resource building in Maxus, Srinivas explained, “We have been able to attract good talent, and are today fully equipped across all our business teams. All our new businesses have a mix of existing and new staff. We are focusing on career development, training and staff retention measures. Talent management is the most critical element of our business going forward.”

Among those who have recently joined Maxus in senior positions are Madhvi Pahwa as Director-Insights (from Coca-Cola), Ajay Gupte as the Business Head on Nokia (from TVS Motors), D Naidu and Padmini Singh, also on Nokia, and Anupama Vendantam as Business Director in Mumbai.
